Through our businesses, storytelling, fundraising and volunteering, together we're paying it forward. Whether it’s through community service, impactful insights and reporting or raising awareness, making a difference matters.

We take pride in our work and work to lift up others, helping to contribute to the wellbeing of our society.

From organizing care packages and serving meals to running charity races and cleaning up parks, Hearst colleagues across the country joined together to support their communities during National Volunteer Week.

Since 2021, we've raised $25 million through colleague donations & the Hearst match!

Since 2021, $25 million has been raised through Hearst Gives Back and Fitch Community to support more than 11,000 organizations, thanks to the generosity of our colleagues!

Leading and enlightening: Hearst launched the company's second Sustainability Report and hosted the Sustainable Cities Summit at Hearst Tower during Earth Month, bringing together industry experts and policymakers to discuss how urban design and technologies are reshaping the world’s cities with environmental impact in mind.

Hearst announced the acquisition of a 20,000-acre sustainably managed forest in Northern California. The forests will be added to Hearst’s current timberland ownership of 62,000 acres in the same area.

HearstLab hosted a jam-packed session for NYC Climate Week focused on solutions for Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, featuring HearstLab founders from Planet FWD and Scope Zero. Good Housekeeping’s Lexie Sachs moderated a conversation on the opportunities and complexities of how retail and consumer packaged goods companies are moving the needle with their climate goals.

Hearst and U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom Jane Hartley co-hosted a discussion at the ambassador's residence in London on the fashion industry’s commitment to sustainability. After an introduction by Hearst SVP of Public Affairs & Communications David Carey, ELLE UK Editor-in-Chief Kenya Hunt led a lively and informative discussion with Creative Director Gabriela Hearst and British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush before an audience of thought leaders from the worlds of fashion, philanthropy, music and media.

A star-studded roster of speakers and panelists, including Mariska Hargitay, Michael Strahan and Emma Heming Willis, gathered at Hearst Tower for Town & Country’s 11th annual Philanthropy Summit. Together they discussed philanthropy’s most crucial component: empathy.

Country Living UK’s Access for All campaign championed the right of everyone to enjoy Britain’s green spaces by highlighting the obstacles people with limited mobility might experience and sparking thought-provoking ideas on how to overcome them, with wheelchair-friendly walks, accessible gardens and more.

Following Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact, the Hearst Foundations awarded $1 million in grants to 10 organizations in the Southeast to support emergency relief efforts for communities in need.

Things got furry at Hearst Media Production Group’s screening of its new series, Extraordinary World with Jeff Corwin, thanks to special guests from Seeing Eye, the nearly 100-year-old nonprofit that breeds, raises and trains guide dogs for people who are blind and visually impaired. The seeing eye dogs in training spread adorable good cheer and embody the show’s theme: how everyday heroes are driving positive change for humans and animals. The show is produced in partnership with the Brady Hunter Foundation.

Guest-edited by Tony Award-winning actress and author Ali Stroker, Good Housekeeping published its first Accessibility Issue in July, featuring essays from disabled individuals, home accessibility tips and guidance on discussing disability with kids.

Hearst launched the internal Disability in the Workplace newsletter, highlighting events, initiatives and partnerships advancing neurodiversity inclusion and awareness within the organization.

Thank you to our colleagues at Homecare Homebase, who filled 86 boxes to provide 18,576 meals for kids at the Feed My Starving Children kitchen in Dallas.

The Charlotte Hearst Gives Back Champions partnered with nonprofit Communities in Schools to prepare high school students for the upcoming academic year. Colleagues brought in extra school supplies, packed backpacks and penned encouraging notes.

KCCI-TV colleagues encouraged learning in Des Moines with a book drive that collected 580 books! The news truck was loaded with the donations, which were delivered to the Oakridge Neighborhood, a nonprofit housing and human services agency.

It's a goodwill slam dunk: The Harlem Globetrotters dribbled into its third season of Hearst Media Production Group’s Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward with new host and former NBA player Kenny Smith, bringing positive energy and basketball tricks to communities around the country.

KETV, Omaha, NE became the only medium-market television station in the country to be honored with the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation's Celebration of Service to America Award for its Voices of Gen Z Teen Summit, which convened teens from different backgrounds to discuss pressing societal issues.

Presidential election years often inspire civic engagement, something that has always been fundamental to Hearst’s mission. Our journalists weighed in with their reporting and we engaged with experts to gain knowledge, including an event with New York Times best-selling author and presidential historian David Rubenstein, who spoke with Executive Vice Chairman and former CEO Frank A. Bennack, Jr. to share perspectives from his book, The Highest Calling, Conversations on the American Presidency.

Social good connects us: The Hearst Foundations has awarded over $1.5 billion in grants since its founding in 1946, and provided over $52 million in grants in 2024 to support initiatives in culture, education, health and social service across the United States.

Fitch Ratings partnered with PJT Partners, Moelis and Houlihan Lokey to host the second David Riddell Memorial Charity Event in London, raising £640,000 to support the nonprofit’s work on awareness for mental health causes.

Stocking up for summer: KCCI-TV, Des Moines, IA partnered with Hy-Vee and collected more than 32,000 pounds of nonperishable food and hygiene products, benefitting 55 food pantries across Iowa to fight food insecurity ahead of the summer months.

Hearst Magazines partnered with the Ad Council Research Institute to host the inaugural Mind Lab, a thought leadership event on mental health. The event featured findings from "Time to Talk," a comprehensive study based on interviews and a survey of 4,000+ consumers, offering insights for brand marketers on effective mental health communication. Editorial leaders from Cosmopolitan, Good HousekeepingMen's Health, Oprah Daily and Women's Health also shared their expertise.

The WESH-TV, Orlando, FL crew monitored rising flood waters during Hurricane Milton to inform the local community about dangers.

Empowering through education: Fitch Group’s annual Global Volunteer Week mobilized over 2,230 colleagues in 140+ service activities around the world focused on education, including helping young professionals in Rio de Janeiro explore career paths, leading financial literacy workshops in Dubai and mentoring high school students in New York.

Colleagues volunteered 28,290 hours and contributed $3.8 million on Hearst Gives Back and Fitch Community. With the Hearst match, a total of $7,738,928 was donated to 3,300 nonprofits.

Hearst employee resource groups connected colleagues and supported communities, hosting events honoring Lunar New Year, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Military Appreciation Month and more.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, colleagues worked to raise awareness and support those affected, participating in fundraising walks, donning pink, volunteering and sharing the experiences of cancer thrivers.

Throughout the year, we celebrated our People & Purpose at Hearst Tower with meditation and exercise, volunteering, a community bookshop, RISE collabs and much more. Thank you to all who joined us!

The 62nd Annual United States Senate Youth Program took place in Washington, D.C. in March where high school students participated in meetings with the president and first lady, a U.S. Supreme Court justice, senators Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Michael Bennet of Colorado, cabinet members, officials from the Departments of State and Defense and directors of other federal agencies. William R. Hearst III, chairman of the board of Hearst, and Steve Swartz, president and CEO of Hearst, shook hands with senators and joined the program.
